The spice must flow

Tue Dec 22, 2009, 1:26 AM
A long time ago (relatively) I read Dune. It was a great book, and for everyone out there who hasn't read it, you should. I decided to post this because I found a damaged copy at work today and was quite put out by it. Curses on the destructive fool who would commit such an atrocity upon the masterwork of Frank Herbert.

Read it, because the spice must flow.

Meaningless

Thu Nov 12, 2009, 8:11 PM
So I found out the whole Archie/Veronica/Betty thing is more of a "this might happen, but he could also end up with Betty." The next three issues deal with what would happen if he chose Betty. When I told my husband he replied with, "So it was completely meaningless?"

Yes. Yes, it was.

Thbbt.

Some of the Brown family yet remains!

Thu Oct 22, 2009, 12:11 AM
So apparently a good chunk of the Brown family stayed in Virginia.

Not that any of you give a brass farthing about my family tree, but it's exciting for me. I'm in the process of joining Daughters of the American Revolution, so these cousins might have a crucial piece of information (i.e. vital records) that would prove the relation to one of my ancestors, thereby unlocking about six or seven Revolutionary ancestors. I mean, we know we're related to them, but it's nice to have the actual paperwork that proves the direct lineage.

So yeah, the man I'm joining DAR under is Benjamin Proctor, a great-grandfather some ways back. From what I understand, he served under Daniel Boone out in the (now Kentucky) Virginia backwoods. I guess he was actually a member of the team that rescued Boone from some Native Americans. I'll totally post a correction if I messed up this information, but it's not like anyone reads this stuff (except my husband, occasionally), so whatever. It means a ton to me. I'm related to someone who probably knew someone famous!

I think it's kinda cruddy when people say things like, "Oh, there's no one cool in my family tree," because how sad and disrespectful is that? How would your ancestors feel if they knew how unappreciative you are? Seriously, if you take the time and do the research (which can be very expensive and/or a pain) you can find some really cool stories, even if they're really recent. It's kinda fun to track a family's migrations, and these days it's easy to do (unless they lived in Iowa).

Do some research! It's super exciting!

I'm such a nerd!

Archie #601

Wed Sep 16, 2009, 9:30 PM
So apparently Archie actually went through with marrying Veronica. I feel torn. Since I was a child, I've always rooted for Betty's happiness above all else. She's the girl next door who works for what she wants, and Veronica? Everything she's wanted has been handed to her on a silver platter. On that note, however, I should add that in all history of the comic, Betty was usually the backup. Archie never realized what he had in Betty.

I remember reading a comic where basically Veronica can't go to the prom because she's grounded for failing a test, so Archie asks Betty. Betty ends up helping Veronica study for a re-take, though she knows she'll lose Archie as a date if Ron passes. Needless to say, Veronica passes and is freed up by her parents and Archie goes with her, leaving Betty in the dust. Jughead watched the whole thing happen and told Betty, "I don't like girls, but if I were ever going to kiss one, it would be you."

Jug should end up with Betty. He appreciates her. And no, he's not a woman hater. He just wants to avoid the Archie-Betty-Veronica love triangle drama. So there.

In #601, Archie tells Betty that he loves her like no other... As a sister, as his first friend in Riverdale. Humbug, says I, and most other fans of Archie comics.

And now Veronica is pregnant. I guessed that it'd be fraternal twins, and since I <3 spoilers, I looked it up and found out how right I was. Perfect little carbon copies of their mommy and daddy... Poor Betty. She deserves all the happiness in the world.

You can tell how invested in this I am.

Also, I have some art that I'm trying to do. Maybe I'll get to it.

I totally updated!

Sun Aug 30, 2009, 12:53 AM
I added entries!

None of my colored illustration work is up to snuff though, so I'll need to fix/redo/do more before posting anything that I might consider good.

I'm just glad I finally added stuff.

And by the way, the ultimate blasphemy has occurred. Archie has proposed to Veronica, and not Betty. Let's hope that he rectifies this terrible travesty.
